Finnish Association of Physiotherapists (FAP) PDF Tulosta

FAP is founded in 1943 and has today over 8400 members (students included). The Association is a joint professional organization looking after the interests of all physiotherapists. The Association promotes physiotherapy in the Finnish society and ensures that physiotherapists have the readiness to provide high-quality physiotherapy services.

In order to monitor its members´ interests, the FAP actively follows developments in the Finnish society, provides statements, takes stands, presents proposals and introduces initiatives.

There are 18 societies, which cover the whole of Finland. Individuals become members of the Association by joining one of the societies. Licenced physiotherapists or physiotherapy students may apply for the membership of the society.

Physiotherapists skilled in the special fields of physiotherapy have set up special interest groups. There are seven different special interest groups working in liaison with the Association.

The General Meeting, convened once a year, is the Associations’ highest decision –making body. The Chairperson of the Association and the Executive Committee are elected at the General Meeting; their term of office is three years.

Members can turn to the development experts of Association whenever they need advice and assistance.
